Corporate Holiday Party

Corporate Holiday PartyThe holidays are always an exciting time of year – parties, gifts, and general merriment – but planning a corporate holiday party can be challenging. Most companies have a diverse workforce making planning difficult when comes to meeting the needs of everyone at the office and, of course, exceeding expectations for enjoyment. When mulling over corporate holiday party ideas, take these tips into consideration:
  1. Please the majority. Determine if you work group is looking forward to a year-end celebration. Gather a group of individuals to discuss ideas and rally assistance in planning. Send out a survey to the entire staff to gather feedback about interest, party ideas and determine the best dates for the party. The feedback will vary, but strive to please the majority.
  1. Set a budget. Cost matters. Determine a maximum amount you can spend and stay just below that number. Remember to factor in the approximate number of attendees, food, drinks, entertainment, venue rental and incidentals.
  1. Count heads. Determine which employees will be attending and get feedback if the majority would prefer this to be an employee-only event or should spouses and/or families be included as well? Your budget may not open you to inviting more people, so take that into consideration before offering options to your group.
  1. Choose a venue. The venue can set the tone for the event. Get feedback from co-workers and encourage everyone to share their corporate event ideas. Take into account if you are choosing something to suit families, couples or just your work group. Take note of your budget and the date and time options for the party when contacting venues and vendors.
  1. Get creative. Don’t be afraid to step outside the box. Appetizers and refreshments at a banquet hall are fine for corporate meetings, but holiday parties can generate some real excitement and be an opportunity for a truly good time. Consider unique event ideas, like an ocean side restaurant or, even better a chartered yacht. In many cases, venues such as these will even help you handle decorations, entertainment and catering needs.
  1. Plan games and activities. Although everyone may work well together, socializing can be a fine art.  Be sure to plan entertainment, games or other fun activities to keep the party entertaining and allow everyone to be involved.
